Xiamen has a subtropical climate. It is generally mild with abundant rainwater. Xiamen's mild weather enables visitors and locals to engage in outdoor activities from golfing to visiting all the beautiful parks and gardens all year round.

The average annual temperature is approximately 21°C (70°F). December to March is the cooler season. During these months temperatures generally range from 10ºC to 20ºC (50ºF to 68ºF). On the coldest nights, the temperatures drop to 2°C (36°F).

April to October are the warmer months. Temperatures generally range from 20ºC to 32ºC (68ºF to 90ºF). On rare occasions over summer, temperatures can hit 40°C (104°F).

The wettest months are in May and June. High humidity levels guarantee the lush and exotic vegetation in Xiamen.

Xiamen is affected by typhoon four to five times annually on average, mainly from July to September.
